In recent years, studies have shown a significant increase in the number of deaths by suicide among African American youth. Although research has demonstrated climbing suicide rates for other racial groups, the trend in Black youth deviates from historical data. These findings indicate that this is an emerging issue within African American youth and warrants a call for action. This course will assess the growing crisis of Black youth suicide. Learners will be able to collect culturally appropriate evidence-based interventions for black youth mental health.
