This learning module prepares contemporary psychiatrists to practice with a culturally-inclusive framework in order to care for Muslim Americans. Competency in this area is provided through a review of demographic factors and social determinants of health as applicable to Muslim Americans, exploration of the impact of Islamophobia and discrimination on the mental well-being of Muslim Americans, and the intersection of religion and mental health among Muslim Americans.

  • Elucidate demographic, cultural, religious and social factors relevant to the mental health of Muslim Americans 
  • Describe the impact of islamophobia and discrimination on the mental well-being of Muslim Americans.
  • Describe cultural and faith-based interventions in treating Muslim Americans.

How to Earn Credit

Participants who wish to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ or a certificate of participation may do so by completing all sections of the course, including the evaluation. After evaluating the program, course participants will be provided with an opportunity to claim hours of participation and print an official CME certificate (physicians) or certificate of participation (non-physicians) showing the completion date and hours earned.
