The prevalence of opioid use disorder (OUD) among older adults in the United States is rising, but remains underdiagnosed, underreported, and inadequately managed. Older adults with OUD often have medical comorbidities and are at higher risk of complications. This webinar provides guidelines for evaluating older adults with OUD, the management of opioid withdrawal syndrome and maintenance treatment of OUD, including MOUD and psychosocial interventions.

- Pallavi Joshi, DO, MA, FAPA is a geriatric psychiatrist at Banner Alzheimer's Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, where she specializes in the care of patients with Alzheimer's disease and other cognitive disorders. She also serves as Program Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship and Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix. Dr. Joshi completed her geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Yale University, her psychiatry residency at Staten Island University Hospital—where she served as Chief Resident—and a Psychoanalysis Fellowship through the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. Her clinical, educational, and research interests focus on geriatric psychiatry, dementia, and advancing evidence-based care for older adults.
