Clinical Update on Sleep Disorders
Overview

The program will explore the newest developments in treating insomnia, with a focus on emerging hypnotic medications. It will also cover parasomnias, shedding light on unusual nighttime behaviors, and examine the relationship between psychiatric disorders and sleep, including the causes and effects on overall health.

Additional sessions will address sleep-related movement disorders, such as Restless Legs Syndrome, and the application of cognitive behavioral therapy as a non-pharmacological treatment for insomnia. The event will also include a discussion on pediatric sleep, distinguishing between typical and atypical sleep patterns in children.

  • Understand an evidence-based approach for the detection and evaluation of insomnia

  • List the primary therapeutic components of cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia.
  • Discuss the efficacy and benefits of delivering cognitive-behavioral therapy for insomnia fully-automated by the internet.
