Training Gaps in perinatal mental healthcare
Overview

Description 

This webinar will address current gaps in training across the continuum of behavioral healthcare provider training programs, including 1) psychiatry; 2) advanced practice nursing; 3) psychology; 4) mental health counseling; 5) and social work. The webinar will address graduate, postgraduate, and continuing education as well as the adverse consequences of limited education and training to address perinatal mental health needs.

  • Appreciate the lived experience of persons with perinatal mental health or substance use disorders.
  • Recognize gaps in training in graduate and continuing education for psychiatry, nursing, psychology, and social work.
  • Understand adverse consequences of limited education and training in the behavioral health workforce to address perinatal mental health needs.
  • Learn about accreditation requirements across behavioral health disciplines for training in maternal mental health.
  • Learn about education and training options in maternal mental health.

How to Earn Credit 

Participants who wish to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ or a certificate of participation may do so by viewing the live presentation and completing the evaluation. After evaluating the program, course participants will be provided with an opportunity to claim hours of participation and print an official CME certificate (physicians) or certificate of participation (other disciplines) showing the event date and hours earned. 

Continuing Education Credit 

In support of improving patient care, the American Psychiatric Association is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
