Postpartum psychosis is a rare condition that affects approximately 2 in 1000 postpartum birthing individuals. Yet, researchers suspect that these numbers may not accurately reflect the true impact, considering the large number of individuals giving birth every year.
An additional concern is the disparity in unreported and untreated maternal health conditions among people of color, which may put them at a higher risk for delayed diagnosis and treatment.
