Description 

Despite clinical advancements, pediatric bipolar disorder remains a complex and frequently misdiagnosed condition, particularly in youth with severe emotional dysregulation. This session presents the latest evidence-based approaches to diagnosing and treating pediatric bipolar disorder. Using case studies, presenters will differentiate pediatric mania from conditions like ADHD, depression, conduct disorder, and autism, while emphasizing the chronic nature, familial trends, and long-term impairment associated with the disorder. Special focus will be given to the role of second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) in treatment, and the importance of concurrently addressing comorbidities to improve outcomes.
