Description
This session explores the rising phenomenon of moral injury among healthcare providers, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Drawing on new research and frontline data, the presentation will distinguish moral injury from burnout, identify risk factors such as inadequate support and leadership trust, and examine the psychological toll on providers. Participants will review empirical data from a longitudinal Florida-based study, consider promising treatment approaches including trauma-informed therapies, and learn practical strategies that hospital leaders can use to mitigate harm and support their staff. Through dialogue and a concluding panel, this session equips psychiatrists and leaders with insights to advance institutional resilience and clinician well-being.
