Description
This session explores the emerging and complex clinical, ethical, and regulatory landscape surrounding the psychiatric use of psychedelic compounds. Although early research supports their potential efficacy in treating various disorders, concerns persist regarding adverse effects, unregulated retreat practices, informed consent, and risks of misuse. Experts will discuss known risks, real-world practices at psychedelic retreats, and the informed consent challenges posed by ineffable and transformative psychedelic experiences. Case studies and empirical research will be presented to evaluate the necessary frameworks to ensure safety, efficacy, and ethical practice.
