Description 

This session will provide an in-depth review of recent developments in the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD), with a focus on buprenorphine and evolving standards of care. The opioid crisis continues to shift due to the rising prevalence of fentanyl and its analogs, requiring modifications in treatment strategies. This session will explore key topics, including 2022 regulatory changes affecting buprenorphine prescribing, comparative effectiveness of buprenorphine versus extended-release naltrexone, and the clinical impact of new medication formulations such as injectable buprenorphine. Additionally, this session will examine best practices in medication-assisted treatment (MAT), innovative approaches for expedited admissions into long-term care, and efforts to expand access to evidence-based treatment within the criminal justice system.

How to Earn Credit

After evaluating the program, course participants will be provided with an opportunity to claim hours of participation and print an official CME certificate (physicians) or certificate of participation (non-physicians) showing the completion date and hours earned.
