Description 

This session explores how structural forces such as discrimination, material deprivation, detention, and healthcare inequities shape the mental health of migrants throughout the stages of their journey—pre-migration, migration, and post-resettlement. Drawing from frameworks such as structural competence and structural violence, participants will learn how systemic barriers impact clinical presentations and the therapeutic alliance. The workshop emphasizes clinician-level and systems-level interventions that can mitigate harm and foster resilience among migrant populations. Participants will engage with interactive case analyses and apply structural frameworks to real-world clinical encounters to better support the mental health of migrants.

How to Earn Credit 

Participants who wish to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ may do so after completing all sections of the course including the evaluation. After evaluating the program, course participants will be provided with an opportunity to claim hours of participation and print an official CME certificate (physicians) or certificate of participation (non-physicians) showing the completion date and hours earned.
