Description
With growing interest in psychiatry as a specialty and a mismatch between medical student enrollment and residency slot availability, navigating the residency application process has become increasingly complex. This session provides a structured, collaborative approach to assisting all stakeholders involved in psychiatric residency advising and recruitment. Presenters will review national trends, the impact of program signaling and the Supplemental ERAS® Application, and the recently developed “Roadmap to Psychiatric Residency” — a joint initiative from APA, AADPRT, ADMSEP, AAP, and PsychSign. Participants will explore advising strategies, challenges with diversity and inclusion in recruitment, and methods for optimizing match outcomes in the current climate. Through discussion and resource sharing, attendees will enhance their ability to mentor and guide applicants effectively.

How to Earn Credit
Participants who wish to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ may do so after completing all sections of the course including the evaluation. After evaluating the program, course participants will be provided with an opportunity to claim hours of participation and print an official CME certificate (physicians) or certificate of participation (non-physicians) showing the completion date and hours earned.

In support of improving patient care, the American Psychiatric Association is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
