Emerging Topics Webinar Series

Stay up to date on important topics and trends impacting psychiatry by participating in APA's new Emerging Topics Webinar Series. Presented by specialists across the field, these monthly webinars will explore a range of diverse, pertinent topics and offer a chance to interact with peers and subject matter experts.

Overview

Reproductive Depressions are depressive episodes that are triggered by time of reproductive hormonal change in women, which may have a more homogeneous biological basis. Exciting research has recently led to two new medications for the treatment of Postpartum Depression with unique mechanisms of action as GABA Receptor positive allosteric modulators. Over a decade of research has also led to the development of a blood test for Postpartum Depression that is predictive with 80% accuracy based on epigenetic biomarkers. Both of these advancements are leading to alterations in the treatment approach to managing and potentially preventing postpartum depression.
